Today, Loveland Castle is both a museum and a testament to one man’s dedication to his vision and passion for medieval history. Activities include learning about Andrews, picnicking, playing games and puzzles, ghost hunting, self-guided tours, admiring the architecture, viewing period weaponry and occasional wine-tasting events.

Operating hours are April 1 to Oct. 31, except Thanksgiving, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 1 to March 31, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (closed holidays)11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 per person, children 5 and under are free. Prices for special events vary.

Piatt Castle Mac-A-Cheek

Hours include weekends April 13 to May 19, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sept. 7 to Oct. 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The castle is open daily from May 25 to Sept. 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to the grounds and outdoor exhibits is free. To tour the home and indoor exhibits, guests, ages 5 and older, can purchase tickets. Adult tickets are $15, youth tickets (age 5-15) are$8 and tickets for seniors (age 65+) and AAA discount are $12.

Ravenwood Castle

Situated in the rustic Hocking Hills region Ravenwood Castle is a haven for lovers of nature, medieval lore and fantasy. A newer take on the traditional English castle, Ravenwood transports guests to another time with its architecture and furnishings.

Visitors can book a room or an entire cottage or cabin and engage in activities, like gaming weekends, murder mystery events and beer and spirits tasting weekends, the website notes. The castle serves dinner in its Great Hall on most weekends. There is also a pub on-site that castle guests can visit.
