Humidity and storm chances increase in SWFL to start the new week (2024)

All right, Justin, are you gonna talk about this humidity? Because Alex is focusing on this all week long. It was fun while it lasted the dry weather. But, uh, it's on its way back, coming back, unfortunately. Yeah. And even it was just *** slight drop in humidity. But, I mean, we take anything we can this time of the year. So I guess we'll set our eyes towards October. Right. Absolutely. Because we're gonna feel the sweat once again as we get into this week, that moisture, it is making its return that slight drop throughout the weekend. But you can see we're in that little gap left. There's some to the north and *** lot deeper moisture to our south and that's going to start to fill in here as we get into the overnight and then by tomorrow morning. So, welcome back to the humidity to start off the new work week along with *** shower chance. Now you'll see here that moisture really filling in heaviest down here across Collier County. But we're starting to see some of those oranges here as we get into *** Monday morning, it continues to fill in here as we get throughout the rest of the day. So, yes, your rain chances are going to start to increase as well as we see more moisture available up into our atmosphere. So just grab that umbrella once again. I know after this week and we really didn't need it, but we'll definitely need it as we get the new week back underway. Now, I also want to point out too, we're going to be watching our winds closely as we do get into tomorrow because that's going to play *** crucial role in some of our showers. Now, speaking of showers tonight, we do still have *** few spot showers we're tracking here, uh Golden Gate Estate South I 75 and also one here just on the south, far south end of Marco Island King and Biz. That's the only thing that we are tracking at this point. Otherwise, we're staying quiet here as we get into the night hours, we'll see maybe *** few spot showers down south in Collier County. That's it for us tonight. Quiet in the overnight watch. What happens tomorrow morning here. I want you to notice your winds right here. You see them coming out of the south and once they run into land and they start to become *** little more south westerly. That's what we call an onshore wind and that onshore wind often favors *** few coastal showers. We go through the morning. So I think after sunrise or right around sunrise, we may start seeing *** few isolated showers here, uh, continuing through the mid-morning hours. Once that breeze kicks in *** little bit more, we'll get some more scattered storms develop right along I 75 and they'll start to push further inland as we get through the day. That onshore wind, of course, we can't catch *** stray shower along the coast. But I think most of the afternoon storms are going to remain more so far inland. We'll have *** few little spot showers here near the coast, but *** majority of those storms will be further inland. Then as we get *** Tuesday, we continue to see this onshore wind and yes, that keeps the rain chance here along the coast as we get into that morning commute. And we could see even more of that as we get *** little bit later into our Tuesday. So as that moisture is returning, we are seeing the shower chance return. We also are seeing the dew points rise, the humidity rise. And when that happens, you our overnight lows, they get *** little bit more mild for us. We're gonna be in the upper seventies for overnight tonight. By tomorrow afternoon, high temperatures are only in the low nineties. So this is pretty close to our average. In fact, right at our average here in Fort Myers. Uh, but when we factor in that, we have moisture, we have to look at the heat index and Yes, it's gonna be brutal. Once again, looking at, uh, the heat index values above 100 degrees as we get towards the afternoon, we'll hit 100 by, uh, noon and then by four o'clock in the afternoon, we could be up to even 105 degrees. So definitely be careful, limit your time outs to make sure you're going inside and cooling off as much as you can. Rain, chances from there too will continue to climb as we get into the middle. And especially the latter part of the week, we could see *** little bit wider spread of coverage of showers and thunderstorms. Let's get *** quick check on the tropics as we continue to track Ernesto, which is once again *** hurricane, we expected it to wobble in its intensity here over the next 12 hours as it's moving over the warm waters of the Gulf stream. But once it gets north of there, it's going to weaken. It's also racing once again to the north northeast, about 17 MPH may hold on to *** hurricane status here through parts of tomorrow and then by Tuesday, it'll start to weaken as it starts to cross far north of the Gulf stream back to cooler water runs into some sheer and that should start to tear this thing apart. So, no, otherwise than that, are we tracking the tropics? Tropics or quiet for us right now? And we'll take it all right. As we get to this week, make sure you have that umbrella handy. Again, scattered storms all across the board for us. We'll see high temperatures through this week, pretty close to average forest. And again, also, that humidity is returning by next week and continue to attract more scattered storms. Highs right around 92 degrees.

Humidity and storm chances increase in SWFL to start the new week

After a nice and mostly dry weekend with slightly less humidity, things are set to change as we start the new week. Moisture is rising as we head into Monday along with onshore winds which could create wet roads for some in the morning commute due to rain. As moisture becomes more abundant on Monday we will not only feel the humidity but also the rain. Winds are forecast to become south to southwesterly overnight. With this onshore flow, we can expect a few isolated showers along the coast Monday morning through the lunchtime frame.By the afternoon, most storms will build further inland with a few stray showers not out of the question for the coast. Since most of the coast dries out for the mid to late afternoon, temperatures will climb to the lower 90s with heat index readings between 100-105 degrees. This is set to be the trend into Tuesday as well with more scattered storm chances expected through much of the upcoming work week.
