I can hardly move my acuator rod.(SOLVED)

Postby d3m0n1c50ld13r »
SOLVED;
Without the BCS, and running the hose straight from the turbo to the
preturbo connection, i would net 21psi.
plugged it and im running 10psi. Thanks everyone for your input
I suppose i need to go to home depot and build myself a boost controller
I got a brand new acuator with my turbo, it was
pre assembled, I took the acuator rod off the wastegate
door and i first off, cant move the adjustable end back or forth.
second i can barely get the rod back on to the door.
Should I just call BAT and tell em to send me a new one? or
is there any way I can fix this myself, i have another
acuator just laying around anyway, but yeah...
Thats probably where my overboost problem is from.
Thats really crappy of BAT/who they had build the turbo

It's supposed to be stiff... A little air pressure will make it move. It's a "pre-load" thing...

can you wait till tomorrow? how did the TPS adjustment go?
are all of your vacuum lines right, check the one going to actuator and make sure there in right order.

okay, then what would explain my infinate boost?
As far as i remember, Jacek told me with the hose, from the
intake, to the connector on the compressor side of the turbo
(which then goes to the acuator) disconnected, I should run
10 psi. what he said was a long time ago and i may remember wrong
Wes, i fixed the leak that caused my poor poor poor idle, and dying
it still dies at start up, but i got it to idle between 800-1400 otherwise

check clearance between linkage and your custom oil line. it might be jammed in there thus causing actuator to bind and cause overboost.
just an idea, i will see you tomorrow. call around 4 or 5pm.

Not to call you a dumbass or anything, but you do have the hoses hooked up right, don't you?

i dont see the part where u called me a dumbass
yeah, i have the hoses hoooked up
i hardly think the car would drive if i was missing vacuum lines,
but it may be a vacuum leak i cant locate :\

He asked if you had them hooked up right..not if you had them hooked up....
You should have to work to get the WGA arm back on the flapper door...you want it to hold the door closed until boost is applied. To make it easier, if you have a small hand pump....pressurize the WGA and the arm will move..then you can easily slide it over the mounting nub on the flapper arm.
First..just to rule out hose routing and anything goofy with any MBCs you might be using. On the compressor side of the turbo, you have the little brass fitting that will probably have 2 nipples on it. Cap off the one with the smaller hole (which used to go to the stock BCS) and then run a hose from the other one straight to the WGA. You should see 11# boost....
Is it dying at cold start-up or all start-ups (warm or cold)? Your IAC might be bad/dirty.

I'll try capping that off today, would running the original routing of
the line, with the BCS removed cause this problem?
Stall is both warm and cold

Running the hoses as they would route originally, but with the BCS removed should net you 15# boost...
I have one of those fittings on the IHI in the Ranger with just the hoses routed (no BCS or MBC) and max boost is a rock solid 15#. If I had the original fitting from the IHI still in there it would be 17# boost max. I've swapped these out on a couple cars with the same results.
Your WGA is not getting enough boost signal to open up...either you have the WGA hooked up to the wrong port on the compressor fitting, or you have a boost signal leak somewhere. Snap a pic of the general arrangement...it would make this whole diagnosis thing easier.....

there's only 2 lines, im 99.9% sure its hooked up right.
Wesley will hopefully be able to look at it with me today.
ill try capping it before he gets here to see if that fixes anything.
Currently as I stated, the lines run stock but with the removal of
the BCS, i took my acuator rod off to check if my wastegate door
can open and close, and it does with no problem.
My only guess is that the acuator BAT sent me (which has 2 dents in the top)
is set too high, or is out of adjustment being dented -by them-

Well, try using a hand pump or the like to pressurize the WGA to see if the rod moves.

My wastegate works as it should, which.. dosent make sense..
I "double" made sure all the lines were snug and on there...
maybe something is blocking the fitting?
It opens what appears to be fully at 20 PSI from the air compressor.
so i can rule out the acuator, and i can rule out the wastegate door.
